Tank tops have to be one of the most versatile staples in any woman’s closet and are available from the very simple to the embellished. Tanks are perfect when worn alone on the warmest of summer days or as a layering piece under just about any top. Let’s take look at just a select few:

The Corsage Striped Tank, $20 by the Gap offers a bit of a pop with the pretty flower pin, a simple embellishment like a flower pin will make a huge statement.

Ruffles continue to be all the rage and can take the most basic tank and give it a romantic, vintage feel. The Slub Cotton Shirred Tank, $35, by J Crew, would compliment anything from Bermuda shorts to crops to a skirt.

The Basic Cotton Tank, $19, by Banana Republic is a very simple tank and is perfect for layering. If you would like to wear the tank alone and dress it up a bit, pair with a bold statement necklace.

For the woman that would like more of an edgy tank, The Sexy Basic Tank-Stud Embellished, $25, by Express may suit you. Pair this tank with your favorite jeans and you will totally rock out your outfit.

The Pleated Trim Top, $12.50 by Old Navy has a pleated neckline and is available in a variety of colors. The simple extra details in this tank can really make an outfit; just add your favorite bottoms for a carefree look, since summer dressing should be carefree!

Whether you like the simplicity of a basic tank or a more embellished tank there are so many choices and you are sure to find a tank that suits your style. Go ahead and bare a little arm!

Lea I am a anti bra straps gal and often find a racerback bra does the trick or strapless if you like those.

Tanks for the tanks, Kristen! What is your feeling about bra straps - is it OK to show them, or are we bound to keeping them completely hidden? I can never seem to find the right bras to go under tanks.
