In the US many are wrapping up their holiday weekend in celebration of Memorial Day. Memorial Day is a day for remembering all the women and men who lost their lives while serving and protecting our country. I thought it was only fitting to showcase some fab items that are of course red, white and blue.

One of the hottest trends this season are embellishments; such as rosettes and flowers. The J-crew Perfect Fit Corsage Scoop Neck Tee, $29.50, has a corsage of flowers that sweep over one shoulder. The added details turn an otherwise basic t-shirt into a t-shirt that is anything but basic.

For the true patriot, the Heartbreaker American Flag Tee by Urban Outfitters, $24.00 is simple yet makes a very powerful statement.

There is nothing more American than an automobile, the Harvey’s Seatbelt bag in Watermelon, $118, is constructed of durable automobile seatbelts and comes in a variety of colors, but is simply smashing in Watermelon.

The lightweight drawstring jeans by Old Navy, $38.50 are classic and casual and would pair perfectly with a simple t-shirt and sandals.

Even though it isn’t necessary to match your shoes to your handbag you just may want to and the Fitzwell Vasant Cork Platform Sandals, $69, would complement the Harvey Seatbelt Bag nicely. There is something about red shoes that really make a simple outfit pop.

I hope these fab items inspired by the red, white and blue make you also stop and think about what Memorial Day really is all about, the brave women and men who have made the ultimate sacrifice for all of us.

I have 4 seatbelt bags from harvey's. They are really neat looking - and totally indestructible. I have one bag that I used as an every-day briefcase for a year, cramming under airplane seats, you name it. It still looks like the day I bought it. I have the little "baguette" shown above in black and red. So cute.
