Today has been quite the day. It all started around 4:30 this morning when I woke up to a thrashing storm outside our house. The power was out, the dog was hiding under the bed and I couldn’t figure out whether or not we needed to be in the basement. Then some combination of the thunder and the rain woke up the bean, who didn’t stop kicking until what felt like an hour later. Needless to say, mama didn’t get much sleep last night. This all would have been fine and dandy had I been able to get up and work, but of course our power was out until noon today. So this morning I took Lucy out for a walk to simultaneously kill some time and get some exercise before it became unbearably humid again outside. Which it is now – and also got me to thinking: if it’s already this hot in June, it’s probably going to be insanely gross outside in July and August.
