This morning at church, while in conversation with a couple of women, I mentioned something about my baby. One woman said, "Oh, he's HARDLY a BABY anymore!"
I replied, with sad puppy-dog eyes, "Well, he's still MY baby!"
Seriously?!! He's not even 10 months old!
Anyways, obviously that stupid, small and flippant comment really got to me. I think any child up to about 18 months is a baby. And MY baby is definitely still a baby! I mean, besides the fact that he's not even crawling yet (although he IS pushing himself around backwards), and even though he's much more able to do things than he could 9 months ago, he's still a baby. He still is VERY dependant on his mommy and daddy for survival, food, comfort, shelter, and even transportation.
That being said, it is so fun to watch him grow, discover and learn how to do more and more things all the time. Just recently, he learned how to dance to music, and shake his head. I'm currently working on capturing the cuteness on video. Because, people, it's the cutest thing ever. But, yes, I know I'm biased. He's getting better and better at feeding himself and putting himself to sleep. He is certainly growing up.
But he's still my baby. Even after we have another one, he will still be my baby. My first. The one who changed my life. So sweet. So happy. So wonderful.

My dad still calls me "Baby girl." I'm 28.
When did you stop calling your child, your "baby"?
