For the first of our Holiday shows we’re demonstrating our favorite bread pudding recipe ever. This one is from ‘The Joy of Cooking,’ and it’s called ‘New Orleans Bread Pudding with Southern Whiskey Sauce’…the sauce recipe is also in book.Added by Kelly Biedny on December 7, 2009 at 6:00pm — No Comments
Today we did not get home from school/work today until about 7:00pm. I know that is normal for lots and lots of families, and even for us it’s usually 6:00pm, but 7 is just later than I prefer. I have been able to arrange my day job so that I work fewer hours on my ‘kid’ weeks (I only have Alex and Soph with me every other week); and I work from home on Mondays and Fridays on those weeks–all this so I can squeeze as much time in with them as possible.…Added by Kelly Biedny on December 7, 2009 at 5:45pm — No Comments
Perogies are dumplings stuffed with various fillings. They are traditional in Poland, and since Alex and Soph are half Polish (on their dad’s side), we make them every year for the holidays. Alex & Soph’s recipe is a potato filled perogie that is boiled and served with sour cream. And, although there are a few steps, it’s fun teaching the kids about this traditional, family recipe. We have a great time making them together, plus they’re super tasty.…Added by Kelly Biedny on December 3, 2009 at 6:00pm — No Comments

Some people probably think I’m crazy for even letting the kids in the kitchen while cooking the traditional Thanksgiving meal. Well if you’ve seen our show, you know that the 2 Kids family is a little crazy–and that’s just the way we like it :DAdded by Kelly Biedny on November 23, 2009 at 5:30pm — No Comments

At our house there are two main categories of traditional activities—movies and food. Most of the movies are Christmas-y, like Charlie Brown Christmas, Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Polar Express, The Muppets ‘Christmas Carol’…the list goes on. When it comes to food, though, there are three main items: Perogies, Polish Sausages… Continue

Everybody knows that Thanksgiving dinner means turkey. Since I don’t have the kids on Thanksgiving day every year, and since I don’t want them to get all turkey-ed out, when we make our day after Thanksgiving meal, it usually includes turkey meatballs.Added by Kelly Biedny on November 12, 2009 at 2:10pm — No Comments

This is our recipe for the smoothest, butteriest, garlic mashed potatoes around. And, they can easily be made family cooking style–bonding while peeling potatoes is something the kids will always remember.Added by Kelly Biedny on November 5, 2009 at 6:41pm — No Comments

Every good meal needs a good beverage for which to wash it down. These two thirst-quenching, kid-friendly, drinks are the perfect addition to any Halloween meal. One is sweet and one is sour, both are just what any costume-clad child would want with their candy-filled pillowcase, trick-or-treating haul.Added by Kelly Biedny on October 17, 2009 at 9:00am — No Comments
