The Gummy Bear

So we went in for another look at the mini-crownholm. Its crazy to think that just a few weeks ago it was the size of a pin prick ( we nicknamed it "the prick") and now it looks like a gummy bear/turtle. Its absolutely amazing to see your baby growing inside of you but seriously hard to keep a straight face as they show you the ultra sound. I think my husband asked the doctor if our baby was supposed to look like a turtle...it was the funniest thing I have ever heard. Now we are anxiously… Continue

Call for essays: Breadwinning Wives: stories from women who bring home most (or even all) of the bacon

Call for essays: Breadwinning Broads: stories from women who bring home most (or even all) of the bacon

The topic of wives out-earning their husbands has received a lot of attention recently. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, a third of all wives earn more than their husbands (2003). The Breadwinning Broads project wants to hear about life from the perspective of these meal-ticket mamas. Our hope is to shine a light on the shifting roles in modern marriages or…

We Have to be Grateful

Here we are Friday already and I'm wondering how did it jump from Monday to Friday? It's been a pretty fun week. I made sure I took advantage of every opportunity to get out because of how stressful this

time of month is (accounting month-end closing). In between that, I have

a large clean-up job which is going back to previous years and

organizing, entering, and balancing the finances for that time period.

We're talking time-consuming (hours and hours), brain-burnout…

More Than Just A Game

Over the weekend, the family (meaning my sister and I, the husbands and

the 7 children, actually it was 6 children) got together to have a

Friday night pizza and movie night. I got a little ancy, me being the

difficult pregnant one, and decided that I was bored so made every one

else turn off the movie to play a game. I am not a big fan of movies

especially those action, shooting, have-to-think-about-stuff ones. I was

more in the mood to have interaction and even… Continue

Are You Getting Your Time?

How important is your time as a busy mommy? Even a mommy of 1?Although motherhood is such an exciting and rewarding time, we women tend to give everything of ourselves for those we love but later realize, "What

about me?". Even though you may feel you don't need time right now, it is important to stay in touch with ourself and get time you might regret not having later.…

The Blindsided Wives of America Club: Welcome Sandra Bullock and Elin (Tiger Woods)

Less than two weeks after Sandra Bullock won her first

Oscar for Best Actress for her portrayal of a fiery adoptive mother in

the movie, ironically titled, “The Blind Side,” Bullock was blindsided

by her husband, Jesse James, who the world has now learned had an

alleged 11 month relationship with a tattoo model named Michelle

“Bombshell” McGee. The tattoo model claimed in a cover story that

appeared on the newsstands last Friday in “In Touch”…

How To Connect To A Man, By A Man

By Man On The Fence

He’s back again! Giving us ladies a man’s view on how to connect to the opposite sex. What do you think?

—————————————————————-

One of the reasons I have chosen to blog, particularly on Women On The Fence’s Blog, is because I often feel there is a total disconnect with women. I am not referring to myself here, as I feel sufficiently equipped with the fortitude and depth to relate well enough. In fact, I feel so convinced of my capacity to… Continue

Wives, Submit to your Husbands

Wives Submit to your Husbands

This morning while taking a shower I was meditating and asked myself “Why do I have husband and what is the real purpose for me to have him?” When I asked myself that question the first picture that came to mind was a marriage relationship between the chosen believers and the Most High.

I pictured Him choosing his bride and yes He chooses us! We are filthy rages that desire to live life through our physical senses instead of our… Continue

Am I admitting failure when seeking marriage/relationship advice?

I've coached, counseled and mentored many women in the area of relationships and I find that many times we miss out on the empowering support necessary to manifest effective relationships because often times women feel that they are admitting to failure when seeking out advice or resources.

On the contrary! When you continue along a path doing the same thing expecting different results you are actually a demonstration of one definition of insanity. Yes, I said insanity.

To… Continue
