Another week has passed me by, but I still managed to put together a list of some of the crazy knowledge that I've gained along the way.  Included is the realization that parenting without a sense of humor is like driving a car without a steering wheel.  Click over to my blog to read the…

Moms: What Where Your Summer Must-Have Favorites

It's hard to be believe that some kids are back in school, and some are just finishing out the last couple of weeks of summer before school begins.

Boy, time does indeed fly. I can't believe that summer is nearing the end, as far as pool parties, barbeques, Summer Fridays from work, and more.

Fresh Fruit for Hot Days

Nothing keeps my kids smiling and fully energized than eating a variety of the fresh fruit we have in our garden in the backyard, and that we can get at the local Saturday market.

In each and every fruit is a range of vitamins and minerals that are good for your child's healthy development as they get older. My kids like a wide range of fruit; watermelon, strawberries, blueberries, plums, grapes,…

Look Out -- Dad's in Charge!!!

Wouldn't you know that the one day I leave my husband in charge of getting the kids off to summer camp, both kids forgot their lunches and the dog left me a ginormous mess all over the downstairs!  Click over to my blog to read the story:  "…

Thank God for Summer Camp

I would like to express my extreme gratitude to the genius who came up with the idea of summer camp.  Cause my kids would no doubt kill each other if they weren't separated each and every day from their hiatus from school.  Click over to my blog to see what I mean:…

Things I Love: My Five Favorite Products for Summer

The Fourth of July always seems to mark the middle of the summer. So since the Fourth was last week, it’s pretty much the perfect time for me to list my favorite products – for grown ups – of the summer so far. Right? I thought so...Continue reading at The Mommyhood Project

Don't Forget Your Children Are In The Car!

In this record breaking hot summer, a number of children have been dying due to adults “forgetting” about them in the car. As we are parents of older children (the youngest being 9) we had to think back to those early days of waking every two hours to…

Summertime Necessities for Pregnant Mamas

In Minnesota, we talk about the weather a lot. Mostly because in the winter, it’s cold, snowy and icy. And then we get a lot of floods in the Spring. And then it gets HOT in the summer – hot and sticky. Like it has been for the last couple of days – 90s and humid. Some people love this weather and normally the heat doesn’t bother me – it kind of makes up for months of being inside throughout the winter. BUT: I’m not normally pregnant in the middle of all of this heat. And…

An Unexpected Sappy Post (You’ve Been Warned….)

So I posted an uncharacteristically sappy blog entry today about the first day of Sports Camp for my son.  It brought about that old familiar "pit" at the bottom of my parental stomach -- ugh.  Click here to see what I mean:

Heat and the pregnant lady

Today has been quite the day. It all started around 4:30 this morning when I woke up to a thrashing storm outside our house. The power was out, the dog was hiding under the bed and I couldn’t figure out whether or not we needed to be in the basement. Then some combination of the thunder and the rain woke up the bean, who didn’t stop kicking until what felt like an hour later. Needless to say, mama didn’t get much sleep last night. This all would have been fine and dandy had I been…

My Favorite Caprese Salad

On a hot and humid summer day, sometimes there’s nothing better than a fresh caprese salad. Keeping the ingredients on hand for this simple recipe is a must in my family. One, because my hubby’s Italian and he loves fresh tomatoes and mozzarella and two because there are weeks when I can’t get enough of this recipe. It’s so simple, I almost feel like I can’t call it a “real” recipe because it really doesn’t involve any cooking!...Continue reading at …
