The Taxi Driver

When did I become just a mother?  Just a person who juggles the family calendar and makes certain everyone is where they are supposed to be, when they are supposed to be there?

The Power of a Pedicure

There is something elemental about a pedicure.  Not the neon bright colors that often adorn the toenails, nor the callus grater they use to scrub the skin to baby-butt soft, it’s about touch.  Pedicures are about making a human connection.  That and the opportunity to have your toes look like a traffic…

What does vision have to do with anything?

Vision is a very powerful tool in helping us realize our future .

I’ve come to understand that what we focus on we empower. God gave me a revelation one day that showed me just what vision does to us. He showed me a horizontal line with a dot on the left end and a dot in the middle and a dot on the right end. He than told me that the left dot represents all past, sin, sickness and sorrow in my life. The middle dot represents now/present. The right dot represents future, faith, His… Continue

Bracelet of a Fearless Girl

black bracelet with stars

I have a black bracelet studded with stars,a fearless girl I knew a decade ago often wore it.

She was completely comfortable in her own skin. One of those girls who at 20 inherently knew what suited her and stuck with it. She didn’t mind being cute as it fit her somewhat bubbly personality.

Her diary was full of events,Phi Sigma Rho meetings,Sigma Alpha Iota…

Fake and Bake

When I think of the term “fake and bake,” I think of artificial tanning.  I’m all about fake tanning these days since last month I became the I’ve-got-skin-cancer-and-I’m-getting-a-chunk-of-my-back-cut-out-soon Sunscreen Queen.  My fake tanning isn’t going so well.  I suck at applying it evenly and my legs are looking a little streaked.  But, it’s better than the real thing.

But, today’s post isn’t about artificial tanning.  It is about an activity I suck at almost as bad as fake…

Fragments of You Are Fragments of Me

As I get older, and especially now that I have children, I notice more and more of my Mother and Father in my personality.  The feeling of happiness and contentment I get while singing to my Daughters is connected to my Mother’s morning singing (my favorite thing to hear upon…

Winds of Change

I feel that when I came to this realization, it brought me mental wellness, it made me see life, my life, in a whole new light.

Recent interactions that lead me to writing this post

My girlfriend Wendy recently said to me, "V, I've got to wonder, how much more does God expect you to take? Is God waiting to see how much it will take to break you or trying to make you stronger?"
