Side by Side

Have you laughed till you cried
Cried till you split your side
Been so bent over, you could just die
From the joy and pain you feel knotted up inside
As agony and glee effortlessly reside, side by side
Respecting each other’s right to survive
Laugh and cry at the fact that both eyes
Can shed tears for multiple reasons why
We can laugh and cry at the same time

Accoutrements

Silly party hats, balloons, melted ice cream, pin the tail on the donkey. As children, it didn’t take much to create a celebration. What does it take today? Is it an “impossible to get” reservation at the newest restaurant? Something sparkly in a small box? Maybe champagne and caviar? While those do make for a special time (especially that something sparkly) things seem to have gotten mixed up somewhere along the way. It is as though the delight we feel comes from the…

Home office war and the crayon hostage

Post originally appeared on my blog 9/19/10

It’s become clear over the last several days that I am in the middle of a home office war.

  • My post-it notes lay tragically in a yellow brick road in my 7 year old's room.

  • My rubber-bands have joined the infamous “Rubber Band Ball Gang” that disappeared into my 13 year old's pocket.

  • My paperclips have become jewelry and my pens – don’t get me started on pens. We had…

prom queen

I am looking forward to summer vacation this year! Not because it signifies my children's cognitive advancement or because the weather is warmer and the hours are better. I am happy mostly in that it means I have survived my daughters first year of homecoming, prom and Christmas formals.…

Warning: Do Not Tickle Your Kids!

Be careful how much you tickle your kids when they are little. When they grow bigger they are relentless. Our older 3 boys (ages 12,9,and 5) gang up on me. I start laughing before they even touch me. I try to yell and scream for help. I shout "STOP!" and threaten punishment as I back away from crazed little animals on the attack. Ready to strike with all 30 of their long claws. It's hard to take my plea's for help seriously through… Continue

Like Deal or NO Deal??

How about Meal or No Meal?

I had to inform everyone that I found my newest favorite game....on Sesame Street!! LOL I know I am ROFL right now, but I had to post this.

I was doing the usual get-ready for the day stuff this morning and I hear this knock-off Howie Mandell voice saying similar things to what you would hear on Deal or No Deal. I stopped what I was doing and went to check it out and Sesame Street had their version of Howie Mandell talking to the 'baker' and… Continue

Laugh yourself to lose weight!

Little Blue Pill - Rated G for those over 40....

Okay...I noticed it a few years ago...before I became 40 there was a constant snickering and buzz among the seniors about the "little blue pill" Oh my...the men have us again...they used to marry younger women...then we could laugh because we knew what that would mean for other woman if you know what I mean without the blue pill...but no...now they have "the pill" so they are freed once again!
