There's a Price On Happy?

From Wellness On Less

In a society where we're always longing for more, it seems innate that we do so to seek happiness. But, science reveals that there is actually a cap on the amount of money that brings true satisfaction.

The magic number? $75,000 a year--for a family of four. Before you scoff and close the page, let me say, I agree. That's hard to believe, especially for people who…

Wake up every morning and know for a fact that it was going to be a beautiful day. Happiness is a choice and when it is chosen, it is infectious to all of those around you. It is helpful to write yourself a few affirmations and sit it next to the bed so that it is the first thing you see when you wake up. Below, I have listed a few of my personal affirmations:

  • Today, I'm going to commit to My greatness
  • Today, I'm going to smile often
  • Today, I'm going to enjoy the…

But will it make you happy?

Do you like to spend money on nice things or vacations?

A recent article in the New York Times, shows that people are happier when they spend money on experiences instead of material objects and when they stop trying to outdo the Joneses.

I completely agree with this statement which is why my husband and I moved our family to Belize in 2004, for one year. These were the days of conspicuous consumption when some parents in our neighborhood purchased a flashy new BMW,… Continue

So long, sweets!

So, I've recently reached so many of my goals lateley or am VERY close to achieving some of them, a place in life that I've really never been. As I work to get my mind around this new girl that I've become, I've let a bad habit creep in...making a bad eating decision and justifying it with all…

Get Your Priorities Straight, Honey!

“I learned that we can do anything, but we can’t do everything.. at least not at the same time. So think of your priorities not in terms of what activities you do, but

when you do them. Timing is everything.
” –Dan Millman

As I lead in to today’s Blog post, which I dedicate to my husband, who when I asked last night, “Honey, what should I write about tomorrow?” and he replied, “Hmmm. I like…

Doing What You Love vs. Making More Money - Hmmm?

In the last three weeks, I’ve had the same basic conversation with three different people. It must be a sign of the times. All three were debating whether or not they should change courses in their careers and move onto something else that wasn’t as interesting but paid more money. In all three of these cases, these individuals had years of experience in their fields and a high degree of talent that complemented their personalities.

As a perpetual optimist, I told them…

Moving with a baby

This past month has been full of changes. My husband, daughter and I have moved to West Hartford, CT from Charlotte, NC. It's been hard leaving good friends and family in North Carolina to a place that we don't know anyone.

I am trying to make the best of it by joining a Mom's group and getting out and about to meet people. But I'm realizing it will take time to get to know good friends. Hopefully the warm weather of the Spring and Summer will keep people out of their houses and we'll… Continue
