Things I've Learned This Week

Once again, I present to you a list of some of the observations I've made throughout the past week.  Included this time is the realization that whoever decided that football pants should be white should also be in charge of washing those friggin' things!!!  Click over to my blog to read the…

Valentine's Day Jewelry

Valentine's Day is such a special day, and believe it or not, even men can be hurt if they don't get some kind of acknowledgement of how you feel about him.

It's a shame every day can't be Valentine's Day. Romance is healthy in any relationship, and it can be something as simple as cooking their favorite meal or dessert, or taking them someplace where you two made memories.…

Youth Super Bowl XLVI

The adults shouldn’t have all the fun during the Super Bowl. You’ll want something to keep the kids occupied – or for those who are not particularly interested in the NFL or football.

Let the kids put together their own celebration. Decorate a room, or a section of a room, just for the kids…

Super Bowl Party 2012

Even if your favorite team isn’t playing in the Super Bowl you can’t let the fans of those two teams have all the fun! If your teams are in the Super Bowl, even better! Either way, you can celebrate the main event with a fabulous party!

If you think half-time isn't what it used to be – plan some activities to keep your guest entertained. …

Suggestions from all of you wise mothers on how to get people to vote for my Pepsi Refresh Grant

HI everyone!

I have recently written a grant that is currently on the pepsi refresh website.  It is for $25,000 for my boys football organization.  Last year at least 7 boys were injured because of how old the equipment is.  I would rather my boys played something safer, but they love football.  Anyway if they are going to play I want them safe.

If we get enough votes (we need to be in the top 15 by the end of the month) the money will go to new helments, equipment,…

A Sexting Failure

There were three things I promised myself I would never write about when I started my blog…first, I would never write about my mother…second, I would never write anything that would cost me a presidential election…and last, I would never write about sex.

What’s for dinner? Mmmm, Mmmm, good.

I often find myself wondering what to make for dinner. As a stay at home mom, I find myself feeling as if a home cooked meal is a necessity and part of what I term,…

Apparently, August hasn't exactly been my month either.

So much for that serene feeling I always get in August! Although my back finally healed up, I'm now in the midst of a nasty head cold. Yuck! I've heard that quite a few people are having this right now so, if you're one of them, I feel your pain! This August cold, rainy weather is certainly not doing me any favors.…

W(h)ither Football and electronic toys...

The only thing nicer than a clear sunny day in London is a clear sunny day in London when everyone but me is holed up inside watching England vie for glory in the Football World Cup. There is a gloriously eerie, oddly reverent feeling as one wanders the peacefully deserted streets. Like Good Friday in sleepy 1980s Brisbane or Christmas morning in the middle… Continue

Did Getting Mad Find The Sock Any Faster?

“If you kick a stone in anger, you'll hurt your own foot.”

~Korean Proverb

All parents have been there. It's Saturday morning. You've got to go the soccer/lacrosse/football game and there are no socks to be found. It's especially bad if you're a working parent and can't get to the laundry during the week. So you say, with maybe a trace of anger in your voice, "How many times have I said to be prepared BEFORE we leave the house.” Yes, this… Continue

Munchies for the big game

Our local football team the Baltimore Ravens are playing in the playoffs this weekend! To celebrate I am sharing a few of our favorite game day munchies.

One of our family favorites is buffalo wings, because we have three daughters I have to be a bit conservative on how hot I make my hot wings. This is our favorite way to eat these game day favorites.

Not too Hot Buffalo Wings

Hook 'Em...please?

Every year when football season starts (or really, about a month beforehand) I lose my husband. He is a rabid college football fan, and his favorite team is, of course, our hometown heroes the Texas Longhorns. Like many other Austinites, our entire weekend plans revolve around the games. I've had to make excuses at parties for him not attending if the hostess had so foolishly scheduled their party during a game time. His obsession is… Continue

Are you KIDDING ME?!

We are at our friend’s house last night for a BBQ. There are several other couples with all of their kids. Loud and fun. We are having some cocktails, the kids are swimming, the hostess is frantic (of course she strives for perfection in everything she does so this is nothing we can help her with…in her defense, I must say that she accomplishes it every time – awesome job!). About 10 minutes earlier my husband had asked me if he could refresh my cocktail (I always say yes to this question).… Continue
