Little League Angst

Tom Hanks may have said there's no crying in baseball, but in little league, there most certainly is (even if they try REALLY hard not to show it).  Click over to my blog to see what's had me squirming in my bleacher seat:  …

An Unexpected Sappy Post (You’ve Been Warned….)

So I posted an uncharacteristically sappy blog entry today about the first day of Sports Camp for my son.  It brought about that old familiar "pit" at the bottom of my parental stomach -- ugh.  Click here to see what I mean:

Baseball Season has Started!

We had our first baseball practice tonight. Our son is 7 and this is his first year playing "Rookie" league. He is so excited that he will be hitting from the batting machine instead of from the tee this year.

Our team is the Marlin's and my husband is coaching. He is so good with the children. It makes me proud to see him helping and coaching them into being terrific little baseball players! We have 13 boys and 1 girl on our team.

They did well this evening. They just… Continue

Like Father Like Daughter

When I was a little girl one of my first words was the 4 letter "S" word used by my dad during Louisville Cardinal and Cincinnati Reds games, alot. So when I grew up to start a website dedicated to teaching women about sports, few were very surprised. I recently asked my dad to be a part of my blog and start writing with me about what we love and what he wrote really surprised me . His first blog article ever is eerily similar to… Continue

Recession Theater

2 tickets for Wicked - 2 x 121.00

1 standard shipment of tickets - 1 x 15.00

1 parking space during event - $15.00

Estimated total for taking one daughter to theater... $331.58

I know theater didn't cost this much when I was a kid. I know this because my parents didn't have that kind of money, and they took me to every show that came to town. Back then, theater wasn't only for people who could afford luxuries in hard… Continue

Steroids: What's wrong with supporting science?

Websters Dictionary defines a steroid as:

Any of numerous naturally occurring or synthetic fat-soluble organic compounds having as a basis 17 carbon atoms arranged in four rings and including the sterols and bile acids, adrenal and sex hormones, certain natural drugs such as digitalis compounds, and the precursors of certain vitamins.

Over the past week we as sports fans have had the issue of steroids thrown in our face again. Issues about records, the state of the game of… Continue
