The Cream of the Autumn Crop

When the leaves start falling you know it is time to head outdoors and get some color therapy. Nothing says fall like a harvest festival or a hayride out to the pumpkin patch. All this… Continue

Tramp Stamp...N'Awlin's Style

Well, I did it. I got a tattoo. Sending a huge thanks to everyone who weighed in on whether I should get one or not in To Tattoo Or Not. It was icing on the cake. The experience was great, memorable, and painful. The pain was to be… Continue

Hello Blog World!

Hello Blog World!

It has been pointed out to me that I can do one thing very well….rant. I rant about my daily activities, my husband’s idiosyncrasies, my daughter’s 6 year old view of the World, my crazy office life, my crazy home life and all of the other rants that typically come from a busy woman’s brain. So in knowing this could be a strength (or weakness to other’s perspectives) I thought, why not blog about my rants. Maybe someone will see one and it will brighten their day. Or…

Laissez Le Bon Rouler

Colby and I are leaving this morning for New Orleans. The Big Easy is a very special place for us. On June 21, 2003 we were married in Jackson Square in the middle of the French Quarter. Every year for our anniversary we celebrate

by visiting the birth city of our marriage.yes""> Some years we’ve had to go before our anniversary and other

years we’ve had to postpone for a couple of months, but since 2003, we have

never missed a year.…

'Stay'cation recap & there's no place like home!

As I sit here and type this entry on this dreary, rainy, humid Tuesday, I'm asking myself how on earth

is it possible that I'm just as tired now as I was before Kevin and I

took our 'stay'cation? Yep! It's been back to the drawing board over

here and today feels like a Monday for me. I'm already pooped! However,

we did have a relaxing, extremely needed weekend to ourselves and it

was so nice to have the weekend for just the two of us. We laid around,

watched… Continue

In New York, Concrete Jungle Where Dreams Are Made Of, There’s Nothing You Can’t Do, Now You’re in New York

I’m baaaack ladies! As you all know, I had my girl’s getaway last week, and then totally checked out over the weekend to spend some quality time with family and friends. So, it’s Monday morning, I got my ass back to

the gym (thank god), and I’m now I’m in my office, with my coffee,

recalling some of my funniest moments of the past few years.

And…

August Where Are You?

So in August I along with about 799 other people will be boarding the Holland Oosterdam in Seattle headed for Alaska for the first ever Twilight Convention at Sea. This lovely experience was brought to us by the ladies of Cruises Cruises Cruises (CCC) based out of Winnetka, CA. Linda and Bobbi have been doing themed cruises for many years but when they realized how much they loved Twilight they knew right away a cruise needed to be dedicated just for that. Along with organizing everyone's…

What You Really Need to Know About “Safe” Crib Mattresses

I was recently checking the customer reviews of crib mattresses – the traditional varieties made with polyurethane foam, fire retardants, PVC/vinyl with phthalates, just to mention a few of the chemical components – and found that many of the reviewers said they know their baby is safe with the crib mattress they chose because it fits snugly in their crib (which means no tiny fingers can get stuck in… Continue

Restaurants with a Side Order of Play Space

Going out to for a "family-friendly" meal doesn't just mean a restaurant with with kids menus, coloring books and high chairs. I am talking about places that take it up a notch from what your normally find at kid-friendly joints. These eateries have enough to keep kids entertained while you and your spouse have a chance to catch up on more than a just a few moments of uninterrupted peace.…

Saving Stem Cells Why More Moms Are Doing It

This is the title of a recent story in New York Metro Parents Magazine that writes very comprehensively about why more Moms are finding out about the option to bank stem cells, particularly amniotic fluid stem cells and cord blood.

The story that appeared in the May issue of Big Apple Parent and the seven other regional publications went online yesterday so for anyone interested in a great story written by Danielle Sullivan about this topic… Continue

Mommy Cliques. Didn't We Grow Up at Some Point?

I was strolling the bookstore at the mall today with Isaac when I literally bumped into a member of the what I jokingly call the Gymboree-3 mafia. They're three women who were in our class at the local kiddie gym that formed a tight little mommy-clique and would always look down their noses at other moms who aren't....well, them.

When most people think of cliques, they think of the movies Mean Girls, or Heathers, and think of cliques as being the most popular, beautiful,…

Have you ever heard of The Master Gardener Program?

I heard about my local Master Gardener Program at our Clark County Fair last summer.

A group of nice ladies had arranged many displays of all sorts of plants and flowers. They told me that every two years the OSU Extension office trains new Master Gardener volunteers. They urged me to submit my application…
