I found this comic that Isabelle drew a few months ago, I put it to the side to store in the endless art folder that each child has, then I kept coming back to it. It makes me giggle, really! I have a dry sort of humor, I probably say, “How funny” more than I actually burst out laughing. But, this little comic just kept making me laugh. Because of this, I decided to ask her about why she drew it this way and why the snake is afraid of the…

Are you familiar with Microsoft OneNote? It’s becoming my new favorite tool to keep track of all my ideas.
As someone with lots of ideas, I used to keep notebooks and more notebooks with my notes. I know there are great gems in them, as well as action steps I want to take, but they’re not getting done while they’re in a notebook. Also, the pieces of paper all over the place—that never made it into the notebook—have me feeling less than organized.
I’m delving into OneNote…

I don't know about you, but I'm always looking for good vacay spots that both the kids and my husband and I will enjoy. We just tried a good one: South Seas Island Resort, in Captiva, Florida. The resort is a breathtaking 330 acres, with lots of pools and a kids club, plus beaches filled with gorgeous shells. Captiva has a laid-back vibe and loads of family-friendly restaurants where the food is actually good. Great wildlife sightings, too—we've seen ospreys, bald eagles, dolphins, flamingos in…

We haven’t quite mailed all our Christmas cards yet.
So if you’re someone I usually send a card to and you haven’t yet received one from the Beems, don’t despair. It’s on its way.
Frankly, I don’t think we got as many cards this year. And I know we didn’t get as many Christmas letters – you know, those sometimes-braggy, generally…

One of my 2009 goals is to re-design/re-launch my health blog. It was time to take my blog/blogging to another level. I was a little overwhelmed by the thought of another web design project; however, I was quickly reminded that his goal was not going to be achieved if I stayed in that thought process and didn't move on it! After all, 2009 was less than a week away! (GULP)
For this re-design/re-launch, I did not want to use a pre-made blog template, due to certain features that I…

(Do me a favor and just tilt your head to view our holiday cards, below. I've given an hour of my life trying to rotate this pic, and refuse to donate any more time!) :)

I know there's no law stating you must send out a holiday card every year. But knowing how fun it is to see how everyone else's kids are growing, I usually succumb to this holiday pressure.
But this year was different:
- I was slammed with a…

Are you starting to think about your New Year's resolution? I've been thinking about some goals that I would like to accomplish for 2009. I joined #15daysNYE with Jessica at www.jessicaknows.com. I'm excited about 2009 and some of the goals that I have for my own personal achievements. I remember not even having New Year's resolutions for many years like many people because they get broken and unfulfilled. I believe it's because I focused too much on the doing, and not the purpose for why I was…

We often find ourselves regretting where we are in life. This sends us on a spiraling
journey downward as we begin complaining and nourishing our fear which is the enemy
of faith. One key area in living a prosperous life is having an attitude of gratitude.
Having an attitude of gratitude aids in stopping the cancer of murmuring and complaining
in it's tracks.
Ladies I'm giving away my eBook The dynamic Power of Focus in light of the New Year.
All you…

In the family of my birth, we can obviously laugh at some pretty strange things. Things that make outsiders cringe. Things that people don't always understand or get. Things that bystanders can't believe we just did or said. Inappropriate is a way of life. In that spirit, I want you to laugh at this post and admit that it would make great National Lampoon fodder.
Like the time my mother had just returned from vacation, sporting a new ring of Rubies, Sapphires and Diamonds, while…

On December 26, 2002 I became a mother. Garrett was born at 1:19 pm the day after Christmas, although he was trying to come on Christmas day. He tells me know in his infinite wisdom that he was waiting in the clouds with the other baby angels and wanted to have his own day and be one day younger than Jesus. And so it was...
On December 26, 2008 we met his birthfather's grandparents; Garrett's great-grandparents. Dr. Gerald Brown and Mrs. Gaylen Brown. AMAZING! What and…
