Spoil Yourself

How I would love to get away and get pampered again in the spa - with the right ambiance, treatments, and the much-needed time alone for myself to unwind. But this "free time" can be so elusive. But I can spoil yourself every day or once a week at least in this private oasis in my house... while the kids and hubby are distracted at the basement - and that's the bathroom. Here are some stuff that I found which can turn this tiny spot into a enjoyable sanctuary.

Guilt-Free Indulgences for Mother's Day

Being a mom is a special vocation. From running after toddlers to biting your nails as your children venture off to college, it's a challenge. This is one day to celebrate yourself — or your mom, who did it all for you.

You're Suppose to Eat Iodine?

Have you jumped on to the band wagon of reduced salt intake, no processed foods, more organics, less dairy? Where have you been getting iodine? Have your children been getting enough for proper development? The best source of iodine is sea vegetables like seaweed or kelp. But really very few parents I know have had luck getting their children to eat these two vegetables on a regular basis. The second best place to get iodine is yogurt, milk, eggs and cheese. I know I was shocked too. Iodine is… Continue

My name is Lucy and I am a 30 year old mom of two beautiful boys. My boys are 4 years and 10 months so our house is out of control right now. I am married to my high school sweet heart and the best husband in the world. We reside in beautiful San Diego.

We were your normal couple with easy lives until 4 years ago. After a text book pregnancy and birth my body just went out of control. It still is to this day. I’m frustrated with American medicine and am at the end of my rope. I have… Continue

Be specific, baby!

Despite the challenges of entrepreneurship, many people dream daily about owning their own businesses. They have interesting ideas, exciting dreams and great energy. Nevertheless, they find it difficult to take the first steps and get started. For some, it’s downright daunting.

Recently, I had the opportunity to talk with Indianapolis business coach Dawn Shea. I asked her how budding entrepreneurs with big dreams can start turning their business visions and inspiration into… Continue

School Vocabulary IEP

School Vocabulary – IEP

This is the time of year that school districts are testing kids and preparing for the next school year. Their budgets start over July 1st and they will know how much money they have and what services are needed to start the new year in August. I’m not saying they have enough money but they at least have a budget on paper.

Your child will spend just as much, if not more, time in a school setting each day than you do at work. For this reason, you need… Continue

PEAS PLEASE!

This post was originally aired on http://www.intent.com/ in March 2009!

The most convenient vegetable in my humble opinion is the PEA! Packed with nutrition, whether fresh or frozen, this little vegetable can be stored for months and cooked in minutes. Sweet in taste, quick in prep time, hard to beat. Garden peas are generally available from spring through the beginning of winter. Legumes are plants that bear fruit in the form of pods enclosing the fleshy seeds we know as beans. High in… Continue

Nu Face: The beauty gadget that I didn't think delivered...

... until I didn't use it for a week!

What's "Nu Face", you wonder?

It's my yearly beauty gadget. Last year was my Marvel Mini red, this year I bought Nu Face after reading lots of reviews. Would it work? Hmm. It's easy enough to do, only 5 minutes a day, and does zap if you don't have enough conductive gel on your… Continue

What Does Death Teach Our Children?

Death is one of those lessons we hope our children will not have to experience early in life. However, given death is an inescapable fact of life, we know our children will eventually need to deal with it. When and how we discuss death with our children will depend on their ages and the circumstances.

We may be tempted to avoid talking to our children about things that upset us like death. Avoiding discussing death doesn't make it go away but it does make it much more difficult for… Continue
