Nest making - tutorial

This project is one of my favorites. It was inspired by a poem - a Bird’s Nest, written

by the Israeli national author Hayyim Nahman Bialik. This could be a

fabulous project to celebrate spring. In the process of deciding how

The Power of a Focused Business

The Power of a Focused Business

Too many people fool around with their businesses, taking advice from others who aren't making any decent money themselves and keeping themselves busy with senseless activities that get them nowhere.

Thousands of people start internet based businesses each week - and just as many end up… Continue

Spring Food Challenge

Spring time makes everyone want to chuck things and decluttering is a great habit to be in….but here’s a little something you can add into your life. Try this week to eat (not drink) five straight-from-the-garden fruits/veggies each day and journal about it. Believe it or not, this is a tough one for many of us grain lovers. You don’t have to give up your sandwiches, pasta, cereal or crackers – just…

Finding Non-Toxic Cribs for Your Organic Crib Mattress

Getting an organic crib mattress is easy – just call up Naturepedic and it will be at your doorstep before you can say “where’s my stuff?” But getting a non-toxic crib is another matter. What is a parent to do?

A recent discussion on Debra Lynn Dadd’s (aka the Queen of Green) Green Living Q & A blog highlights the problems involved in finding a truly non-toxic crib. One reader even said they bought a crib that was allegedly non-toxic only to find out later that the…

Facebook: A Blessing and a Curse

Up till now, I've really only experienced the good side of Facebook. I love it for staying in touch with old friends, sharing information about social media, seeing what my friends are up to, looking at pictures of their kids, etc. But a couple weeks ago, I experienced - cue sound effect -"the dark side."

What happened? Well, to put it bluntly, Facebook was the first place I learned that my grandmother had passed away. Shocking.

She had been sick…

Candy Tastes Better at SeaWorld

I'm not great at taking vacations. Just ask anyone who's ever lived or worked with me. In fact, I haven't taken an entire work week off since 2005 when my husband and I went to Isle of Palms, South Carolina pre-baby. I'm not one of those people who can leave work AT work. I answer calls, trade emails and hop on conference calls. Coming back to an unmanageable workload post-vacation creates more stress than checking off a…

The Shift That Occurs When You Become Aware of Your Choices

A business coach once told me that the most powerful form of motivation comes from accomplishment.

What does that mean, exactly?

It means that no matter the goal, whether it’s losing weight, taking control of your finances, writing a book, learning how to cook or starting a blog, you won’t be motivated by guilt, by the belief that you “should” do it, or by what other people think. True, lasting motivation happens when you start to see results, feel a…
