A little about yourself...
Single mom to one son..ready to leave corporate and join the ranks of a full time work at home mom. I feel it is the only way I can be the best mom and not lose myself in the process.

Recently learned that my son has Aspergers Syndrome my desire to have my own business is even greater the way my boss looks at me everytime I need to request a day off of get off work early to do something for my son is driving me crazy. I thinks she wants to fire me on the spot...I am tired of having someone else dictate my time especially when it comes to my son. Anyway it is just the fuel I need to reach my goal of being a full time WAHM....

Anyone with any advice and suggestions to help me reach my goal is greatly appreciated. I have a couple of things going on generating additional income but no match to the income from my full time job. I am going to keep working at it I know I can do this.

My Journey To Be A Successful Single WAHM

If you know me you know I am a single mom to a wonderful seven year old son; I also work a full time job with a local non profit as well as part time at a department store even before my son was born I knew that I wanted to have an operate my own business.

I kept putting it on the back burner because my reality was that I needed to put food on the table so my thinking was that in order to do that I needed a job. I would dibble and dabble in a few projects but at the end of the day my… Continue

Teaching Goal Setting To Your Kids

Do you teach your kids how to set and achieve goals? Do you yourself practice goal setting and achievement? So often I hear adults telling kids that they can do anything and to follow their dreams; but rarely do I hear them telling kids how to reach those dreams. I believe one of the best tools kids need to be able to reach their dreams is to know how to set and achieve goals.

Although I knew about goals growing up; I never truly understood goal setting and achievement until much… Continue

Do You UPromise

I had the luxury of some free time this evening and instead of going to bed like I would have normally done I decided to go through the 2000+ emails in my inbox. I noticed that at the end of each month Upromise sends me an update of my account activity. I remember signing up for Upromise back in 2003 thinking that it would be a great way to save for my son’s college education without really thinking about it; the problem I should have been thinking about it at least once a… Continue

Yes I Am A Single Mother And Proud Of It

3 posts into my single mommy blog and someone has made the comment that I “act as if I am proud of being a single mother” well let me be very clear it is not an act. I am a single mother and I am proud of it!

I was 21 when I became pregnant with my son; I was in my junior year of college and had been with my son’s father for 3 years. No the pregnancy was not planned, I was actually on birth control when I became pregnant so when I found out I was pregnant I was not only shocked but scared… Continue

Hi Yolonda,

I'm writing to introduce you to a new website I launched for Triangle parents a little over a year ago. Triangle TRACKS, located online at www.triangletracks.com, is an acronym for "Tools, Resources and Activities for Carolina Kids." As a local mom of three and a former magazine editor, I've come across lots of great resources for kids in the Triangle region, so I decided to put them all on ONE website for local families to use. Triangle TRACKS is also a social networking site for parents, so those who join can post blogs, forums, calendar events and other information for other parents to see. I also issue a free, monthly e-newsletter filled with children’s events and resources planned for that month. Let me know if you’d like to subscribe.

Due to the success of Triangle TRACKS, I started Charlotte TRACKS at www.charlottetracks.com for parents in the Charlotte region last month. I’m hoping it will achieve the same success as Triangle TRACKS.

I wanted to reach out to you to find out if you could let your Triangle friends know about this site via email, Twitter or other social networking sites you belong to. And if you get a chance, let me know what you think of Triangle TRACKS.

By the way, my Twitter URL is http://twitter.com/triangletracks.

Thanks,
Elizabeth Shugg
