Potty Training Regression

It can be one of the most frustrating parts of potty-training: just when you think you have it all under control and moving along, your child starts to regress, has accidents or even starts to demand a diaper again! This episode of The Real Parenting Show with Dr. Pete & Sara takes you through the entire process to help you understand regression, deal with it and start moving forward again.

Regression is often a completely normal reaction by your child. Some of the causes of… Continue

Stress-Free Potty Training

No two children experience the toilet-training process in exactly the same way. While some kids might be afraid to even go near the bathroom, others may know when to go...but still never seem to make it there in time. This helpful guide takes the stress out of this challenging rite of passage, giving parents much-needed advice to help them identify what approach will work for their child's temperament. The book distinguishes between common childhood personality types, providing easy techniques… Continue

Obama's choice for head of SBA: A working mom of 3 boys

Until President Barack Obama tapped her as his SBA pick, Mills was best known in Brunswick as the wife of the president of Bowdoin College, the town's Ivy-esque liberal arts institution.

Mills' confirmation hearing in the Senate has not yet been scheduled. As the Senate devotes its attention to crafting the massive and urgent $900 billion stimulus package, Mills has her own distractions: Soon after she accepted the SBA nomination, her college-age son Will required emergency surgery… Continue

Snake!

Just watched my husband (thank god he had the day off today) wrassle a 30+-inch snake out of our patio and back into the woods behind our house. I'm pretty sure it was a benign black racer snake, but man it was the biggest I've seen and it was snapping at us and shaking it's tail trying to pretend it was a rattler. My kids are fascinated, while I'm terrified, and so I walk that thin line of nurturing their awe and interest while making sure they don't get too close. My 4 year old daughter loves… Continue

Energy

At my house, we understand global warming and the energy crisis, but on a regular basis we do not try to conserve - we want to EXPEND energy. That is, my 6 yr old son's energy. It's so abundant, if we could harness it, we could keep our Florida home air-conditioned for the year and still have some left over! At times, like a whirling dervish, he drives me nuts. Today, in fact the whole week, this is what's been happening. Despite playing more of a soccer game, a playdate and playing with his… Continue

Hi, I just wanted to drop by and let you know that I started a Central Florida Mama group. I thought it would be a great way to have one place to meet your neighbors and discuss what is going on around the town, besides just the Mouse (unless you want to talk about that). Anyways, it is just starting but if you would like to check it out, please go to: Central Florida Mamas!
