Former entertainment journalist (E! Entertainment Television’s “E! News Daily”) turned public relations professional, Mitchell came into her own professionally and personally when she had her first child. Motherhood helped her branch out in a completely new career direction when she founded Boo Boo Busters™ Professional Babyproofing Services. The small service business rapidly grew and now serves both Los Angeles and Orange counties and has childproofed more than 5,000 homes since 2002.
Mitchell’s intent to lower the rampant unintentional death and injury statistics for young children in Southern California became a labor of love. Conveniently, the combination of motherhood with her television news background and her distinctive child safety knowledge, afforded her a uniquely powerful voice as a spokesperson for child safety related issues on both a national and local level. She quickly became the “go to” for both hard news and entertainment related stories that involved babies, young children and child safety. The “momprenuer” was recently honored by making OC Metro Magazine’s 20 Women to Watch list for 2010.
Mitchell has served as a child safety expert for ABC, Fox, NBC and CBS news organizations; CBS’s “The Doctors;” E! Entertainment Television’s top rated show “Dr. 90210;” The Style Network’s number one show “Dress My Nest;” PBS’s Peabody award-winning “A Place of Our Own” and WEtv’s new show “Platinum Babies.” Dubbed the “Babyproofer to the Stars” by VH1’s Robin Leach, Mitchell’s Boo Boo Busters was featured in VH1’s “Lifestyles: Million Dollar Babies” special and made its feature film debut in Universal Pictures film “Baby Mama” starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
National exposure led to hundreds of requests for childproofing services outside her service area, so the momprenuer set her sights on franchising so she could help families nationwide. Mitchell is realizing this dream of expansion by way of her recent partnership with Safety 1st®, and the launch of Safety 1st SquadSM, which is a powerful combination of her hands-on child safety knowledge with the world’s #1 name in child safety. Mitchell also currently serves as spokesperson for Safety 1st®.
She currently lives in her native Southern California with her husband of twelve years and her daughter, 8 and son, 6.
