There is a great deal of controversy about co-sleeping nowadays. Some studies show it increases mom's stress hormones as well as the risk of SIDS, while others show that it benefits babies and…Continue

"I think more parents co-sleep than we think.  I am from Africa and have lived in Asia for many years.  In many parts of the world, co-sleeping is not an option or even a concept.  It is just what happens naturally. For me I…"

Why I'm Glad the Twinkie is Toast

(NOTE: You should not count this week when the world decided that Twinkies were edible again.)If your answer is more than 10: How old are you, and how high is your body mass index? If your answer is between one and nine: Really? Just Call me the Sugar Nazi

My daughter had a friend sleep over the other night. I'm not a big fan of sleepovers, so we don't do them very often. But this girl is one of my favorites of S's friends. We'll call her Peggy. She's a nice girl, low maintenance, no drama. It's hard to find those qualities in a 10-year-old girl nowadays.Peggy brought a large bag of leftover Halloween candy with her. We were going to the movies, so her mom let her bring the candy to take with us. She also proceeded to eat a great deal of the…See More

Sensory Processing Disorder Treatment Starts at Home

This picture may look like a silly Saturday morning pillow fight, but it's actually a great treatment I've discovered for my son's sensory processing issues. Miles just turned 7, and the older he gets the more concerned I've become about his developmental problems. I can't get any help from his school or our insurance company, so…See More

Family Unplugged: The Results Show

It is now 10 p.m. on Sunday evening. I have officially been "disconnected" for 24 hours, and I am ready to once again join the virtual world. In case you missed my previous post, I was inspired by the Australian mom who made her family disconnect from all electronic devices for six months. So I made my family unplug for one day. We were not allowed to watch TV, play video games or use the computer all day. I called…See More

Losing Sleep Over New Co-Sleeping Study

A new study has found that women who co-sleep with their babies are possibly more prone to stress than those who don't.

I co-slept with both of my kids, and I could not disagree more.

According to a Fox News article, "Breastfeeding and co-sleeping with baby affects mom's welfare," the study followed 195 women in a Chicago suburb for six months…
