The Blue Blubbers at the Shedd Aquarium

Today I took a vacation day from work so I could join my daughter's field trip to the Shedd Aquarium. We had a great time. The remodeled oceanarium was magnificient and we loved how the beluga whales have been introduced into the show. Our favorite find were the Blue Blubbers. Seriously, that is their name! Continue...

Fun Science Music Video to Share With Your Kids: A Scientific Cover of Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours"

I love finding fun science multimedia that I can share with my daughter and other families (and no, I am not talking about volcano videos). A few weeks ago I came across this fabulous video that is a "scientific cover" of Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours". This is the song that has the wonderful carefree, summertime feel. A little about yourself...: In our family, we talk about science a lot. Not as frequently as we discuss the Cubs, Blackhawks or Star Wars, but still quite a bit. We whip out the IPad and check out the sun bursts on the 3D Sun App. We visit NASA.gov to get the latest discoveries by the Kepler mission. We read books together like “The Disappearing Spoon” by Sam Kean. As parents, we try to introduce science into everyday conversations with our third grader. I have created this blog to fuel conversations in families like ours about science.

I'm a working Mom and always striving to balance it all.

What kinds of things do you typically Tweet about?: Fueling science discussions in families by highlighting the latest discoveries and interesting facts.
