I have a son named Evan also, and he was my first...and i remember that panicked feeling when I got home from the hospital and realized that they let me bring a real person home with me...ok, I was 35 yrs old, but still, I had never changed a diaper! The nurses had to show me and my husband how to do it!!! I had lots of those moments you described! But it gets easier, thank goodness!
