I had a baby but couldn't take her home

Funny how special occasions like weddings and funerals and birthdays cause you to reflect. My oldest daughter is turning 7 this Saturday. There's nothing really significant about 7. It's not her first birthday. She's not entering her preteen years or sweet sixteen or eighteen, none of those significant age markers. But somehow this birthday seems to be having an impact on me. The thought of my daughter turning seven, that seems so old when she's so young.

Hi Carrie! It is a serious balance and a slow process. Some days, I totally fail at it. But, and this is kind of big, I keep trying. Perserverance is key when writing, as in life, and even if I write 50 words I feel like I've accomplished something. Maybe not as accomplished as 1k but still the story moved forward. And so did I.

Thank you :) No, I don't post my daily 'best thing' but often share it when people ask me back. Were you able to read my blog explaining my thoughts on that. Since I am asking myself as many times a day as I remember to, it changes along the way. Tonight, the best thing was a long talk with one of my daughters. So happy to hear of cool improvements in a couple of challenging situations for her and to hear how encouraged she is.

And in a few minutes, I think the best thing is gonna be that I'm in bed, drifting off to sweet dreams :)
