Mean Mommies

Sometimes feel like you're the meanest mom out there? Ever feel like you're the only one who knows how to say "no"? Have teenagers who think you're the worst? Other moms think you're cruel? Come talk about it!

A little about yourself...
I am a young mother of three who was diagnosed with breast cancer in December or 2007, I was 36 at the time and just had my youngest child a year earlier. I have since had a bilateral mastectomy and many other surgeries for breast reconstruction. I am having an extremely difficult time getting my life together as I am needing more surgery. This would be my eigth one, Is there anybody out there that can understand what i'm going through? I'm writing a book about my experience with cancer and the fact that I was not given all options for reconstruction. I feel I need to let every young women faced with cancer know, you have choices and options. Do a lot of research!! Do any of you wonderful ladies know how I could possibly publish my book?
What kinds of things do you typically Tweet about?

Young Mothers with Breast Cancer

Ladies, I have learned the hard way of what I needed to know when I was diagnosed with breast cancer! I was so scared at the time, I did not do the research I needed to do. After 7 surgeries within 10 months, I started to wonder if I was getting the best care, so I started doing research. I researched doctors, procedures, and any other option I could find. I am in a situation of getting other consults with other surgeons since I am having complications with the silicone implants. So now I know… Continue

Welcome to our Positive Living group, Angela. Wise of you to be doing a lot of research. I have a friend who was diagnosed with cancer a little over a year ago. I've been amazed at how well she's done (with a serious prognosis) and the research she's done and the brave choices she's made, some of them 'alternative'.

Healing blessings!

Hi Angela! I'm sorry to hear about your cancer and mastectomy. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer and had a modified radical hysterectomy at the age of 28. Have you turned to God during your struggles? You have to stay strong in your faith, especially during times such as these. Another option (minute in comparison) is to hire a sitter yourself and tell your husband, "We're going out, get ready." If he disputes, explain that you had already paid the sitter so you might as well use her. I hope this helps and I will be praying for you meanwhile. It was nice having met you!

Hello Angela again! I am pretty new at this too. I really dont know many people on here but looking to meet new moms and moms who have similar kid issues and all and get tips on what they think worked for them and all. I just started joining groups and finding people and messaging them and all. My husband is a full time firefighter paramedic with a local department and not sure if it is the same where you are...no fireman can work one job so he works part time for 2 other depts. I am a part time career firefighter as well. Would love to go full time one day but with 2 kids under 2 and him working 3 jobs just dont have the time right now. I usually work 24-48 hours a week which seems like full time to a lot of people but that is at most 2 days a week. You know how it is I'm sure. I was looking into it. I am from Northern Kentucky and we are borederline with Cincinnati and there are publishing companys around and I am getting that you just need to get in contact with one of the publishing companys. If you finish the book I would love to read it and I'm sure my mom would too. Keep me informed! I love to read and especially about a topic I am all too familiar with. Thanks for the add. Look forward to hearing from you again soon!!!

Hi Angela. Have you ever read the book "Why I wore Lipstick to my mastectomy" It is a great book I think you would find of interest. Check it out.... A lot of local librarys have it as well as a lot of book stores. I understand the breast cancer deal very well. My mom had breast cancer and had silicone implants as well. I myself had cervical and ovarian cancer at the age of 22. Best of luck to you.. I think the book I suggested may be of interest to you.

I will let him know and ask if he knows him. He is upstairs studying for the fire inspection class he has this week and is freaking out already..this is the first day. I guess the rest of my week will require some wine :) Looks like you were out celebrating st.pats by your picture. We were in dogtown and it was CRAZY! I was so glad we did not bring out kids down.
