In their shoes... Babysitting for a Nervous Parent

Babysitters experience a wide range of personalities when it comes to the parents they work for, not to mention the children. For many parents, leaving their baby or child with a sitter for the first time or a new sitter can bring on the nerves big time. So how are sitters to best approach these situations?

1.  Be Attentive. Observe the parents and how they are handling leaving the…

Mothers of Multiples - How do you prepare the sitter?

As a mother of singletons only, I'm curious if it is different for mothers of multiples when you leave the babies with the sitter for the first time or a new sitter.  How do you prepare the sitter?  Do you make special preparations, like preparing bottles ahead of time, meals, etc?

Please share your advice and tips.  Some comments maybe shared in an upcoming Sitter Pals post.

Thank you,

Amanda…

What makes a great Dad? Could it be babysitting?

Remember Dear Abby?  I recently found an article touching on this very subject.  One mother wrote in to Dear Abby in 1977 thanking Abby for “saying it wasn’t ‘sissy’ for a boy to babysit.”  She went on to add now as a father himself, her son is great with his children, because he was around so many children when he was younger, as a…

Teens Finding it Difficult to Land Summer Job - New Resource to Grow Babysitting Business

For the last few months, I have noticed a news story on the difficulty teens are facing when trying to find a summer job nearly every week.  Now that we are half way through June, they are popping up daily.  The New York Times tackled the fact that only 24% of teens 16-19 years old will be able to land a job this summer.  The NYT feature creatively looks at this struggle through the lives of real…

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
