I have a friend who had to start baby rice from 16 wks. She was BF and just never seemed to satisfy him. I think if you need to then go for it. At the end of the day go with your instincts and it will be the right thing to do. xxx
Hi hun,

With Charlotte we started weaning her from four months, she still seemed hungry after her feeds. We started her off with a little bit of baby rice in the morning and gradually introduced more so by the time she was six months she was mostly weaned and not drinking as much milk.

Alot of people will tell you it's bad to start early but only you know your child and what she needs. If you think she's still hungry after a feed then you can try and give her a tiny bit of rice to see how she gets on. Don't worry about what other people say to you. Do what feels right for you chick

My daughter was NEVER satisfied on milk!! She was on 9oz every four hours and wanting more. I remember, she was 12 weeks old christmas day and had half a jar of food. Think i started weaning her at about 10 weeks. She is now 7 years old and thriving.
I am a big believer of trusting your gut instincts. If you feel they ready to start weaning then try it. As my mum says, years ago babies were weaned as young as 8 weeks old. We all still going strong. All babies are individual and their needs different, Listen to other peoples opinions but at the end of the day you must do whatever you feel is best for your baby.

Hope this helps xx
hi guys yeah serens gettin not so satified on her milk any more so maybe start thinking of givin her some rice or rusk....im definalty gonna foloow my instincts had to when the health visitor kept changin her milk, and will now....
When I had my first baby (she's 16 now!) the advice was to start weaning at 12-14 weeks, then I had my 2nd one (he's now 8) and the advice changed to 16 - 18 weeks. My last 2 are only 14 months (3 and 2) apart and the advice had changed again to 6 months!!! My grandmother gave birth to my mother at home and was feeding her runny egg yolk off the end of her finger at a few hours old (not recommended!!lol). You just do what you feel is best for both of you. If your little one isn't ready then she will let you know in no uncertain terms.

P.S Don't tell anyone at my potential uni I said any of this they'll likely kick me off the course lol! Shhhhhh
TBH I was going to wait until Max (15 weeks) had gone through the 6 months stage and try BLW. But over the last week or so he has been draining his bottles every 3 hours (and that seems to satisfy him at the moment but it wont be long I reckon before it wont).

I think then I am going to have to make a decision which goes against what I wanted to try but I guess that's the whole thing of being a parent!! All the best laid plans etc Only time will tell!!!
