Hello Debs
did you read the instructions on the front page of the forum? Here they are again
first question-- do you use twitter? can you write a 140 character & space synposis of what you want to say?
You want to get your new site/blog info out on twitter and get it visibile. This group specifically helps you do that! Below are the directions on how to post RT (re-tweets) However there are very specific things you need to do to 1) get it RT'd and 2) If you are getting your RT's posted, you MUST post a RT for the people who post yours. If you don't the entire group suffers and the its purpose fails!
A new discussion with this title will be posted every Sunday so we know which retweets are current
Please post your 140 character (or less) message that you'd like others to tweet about in the Discussion Forum thread "Retweets for the Week".
Specifics: Tips to be sure you get the Re-tweets: HOW TO WRITE YOUR post for RE-TWEETING (or RT) :
1) Use RT @yourtwittername Don't exceed 140 characters/spaces & RT@yourtwittername to ensure you get re-tweeted
Your post to twitter this please should look like this example below:
RT @julieFBT Have u declared the American Cancer Society as the official sponsor of your birthday? http://budurl.com/ACSMoreBdays
2)How to POST a RT on twitter.com. Suggest you use various social media tweeting tools to schedule in advance and thus you aren't dumping a ton of tweets at the same time (some consider that tweet-spamming). It helps create more visibility for your twitter account if you spread them across several hours
copy/paste what you see on the listings and using any of the means available to you :
twitter.com ; bit.ly,--these will not appear on FB bec of some bot issues there; sharethis.com
hootsuite.com/dashboard,
twaitter.com
socialoomph.com
the BOLDED 3 allow you to shorten URLS + advance schedule your posts up to 5 mins or even do repeat scheduling of your or other posts for days ahead.
By making it easy for you to schedule things across the day/night (or more), it gives you and the RTs you created more visibility particularly if you want to RT the same post(s) over several days.
It should look like this when you paste it in: Example:
RT @julieFBT Have u declared the American Cancer Society as the official sponsor of your birthday? http://budurl.com/ACSMoreBdays
3)Using twitter incorrectly can cause people not to follow you or to lose followers. Posting just a url -- not shortening a URL- not indicating what it's about could do that.
Example: ( from twitter -- this was a "RT" )
http://www.la-story.com/food_trends/getting_good_crunchy_with_healt...
no @thetwittername, no shortened url, no comment like "sounds yummy makes it incorrect, less interesting to others on twitter and could possibly be a virus link
. There's a lot of malware going on out there; no one wants to be taken to a porn site or be told they have contracted a virus.
It also shows twitter-verse (twitter universe) that you don't know how to use twitter. It takes time to learn but we are making it easier for you but giving you these tips.
The group here won't post those type of RT requests. You really need to give us the tightest RT @yourtwittername post as possible and we will do it for you (and you will do it for others)
4)Be careful in what you are reading and what you are posting-- make it interesting, useful. If you are RTing the same post 3 different ways each day -- that's going to blow your twitter status and could hurt those who rt for you as well
Please be specific in the description. (ie don't write "read this post or blog" Tell someone what it's about. example: "Check this post abt great holiday meals r less"
RT's should be of value to your followers Twitter and social media is supposed to be a tool for CONVERSATION.
(Sample: meaningful content, a great video, good information or something from someone else that you think has value ..I think you get the idea.) Particularly smart is finding something else on twitter.com to post on this board bec it shows social media savvy and that you aren't just dropping stuff here. IF you found it useful or helpful.. please post it.
6)Indicate time-sensitive posts if limited time or one day only sales. If you can a contest, please note that too bec some people will pick that up more often
7)Twitter reserves the right to cancel or suspend accounts that seem like SPAM so take time to delete them later
8)Do not try to sell your products and services to others, that isn't the point/purpose of social media. You can post information like this on your page.
9) Do not ask for feedback about your blog or business or put full blog posts on this page
10) Look at the number of RT's you list here.
Be careful/mindful of the number of re- tweets you are asking people post so they don't get upset -- meaning you can post 5-6 if you don't post tweets on this board every day.
If you are posting the same tweet every day, or every week, then you need to work on changing the focus of that tweet.
You can post re-writes of the same tweet for different days, but not rewrites of the same tweet/post in the same day>do you see the difference?
11)Members can pick or choose wich messages they would like to retweet. Evaluate your tweets.
. 12) Posting a "thanx for the RT" on twitter is not enough. RT something of each person who has RT'd your posts.
Put the "thanks 4 the RT @yournamehere here on this board. "

Change the comma to a period (fullstop if you're English)before "com" and add http://www. at the beginning and you've got it!
So it'll be
RT @VInny00V Enjoy the vinny stories at http://www.vinnybear00v.wordpress.com
You might want to pick something out of 1 of your stories to promote rather than stories in general. But technically, this is the link you want to provide.
It'll get easier with time. Read some other people's RTs and you'll start to get a sense of what to write.
WELCOME!
