Permalink Reply by shawnamawna on April 3, 2009 at 1:53pm We too recently joined the Y and I'm wondering what took me so long to do it??? My 2 older kids do Tae Kwon Do there as well as rock climbing which they love and get to get a much-needed workout session in. I also do a Bootcamp type class on Saturdays that literally kick my butt. After a lifetime of seemingly hating fitness, I too am becoming addicted. Yay!!! : )
I'm really hoping to enroll tomorrow in either a Pilates, Yoga or Tai Chi class. I need something for those core muscles. It really is wonderful to get away from your kids without actually leaving them. My boys are 3 and 8 months, and as a non-working SAHM, it's been hard for me to justify leaving them anywhere. I want to put my 3yo in a gymnastics class, and swimming for both if possible!
That's great you really need time for yourself. I know how hard it is to send you baby off to school. It is best for you and you do become a better parent when you have time away from you kids. When you have that space you don't be as frustrated as you usually do.
But speaking more of relaxing, I'll be sending my 3yo to preschool come Fall. I'm so nervous about it, but Threes are hard. I never understood before how sending your kids somewhere/taking time off can make you a better parent. When he's out of the house (afternoons) I'll workout and get back into writing, which is my career field, if only I had the time! I know that will be a MAJOR stress-reducer. My biggest stress after having a 3yo attached to my legs is the fact that I'm a writer who doesn't write!
