Topic: Google + Yahoo / Bing and More ...


Hello SEO Marketing Moms :)

I hope that all has been well with your website and business marketing!

My last message shared that I had a baby boy and took some much needed time off from work. Well, our baby turned 1 years old at the end of December, so I have been going hard with personal and client projects. I know this might sound CRAZY, but I am glad to be back to work full-time. The funny thing is that I love what I do so much that it REALLY does not feel like "work" except for when there are strict deadlines. I am sure that part of this is because I work from home ... Still, I am glad to be back into the swing of things and having the time to schedule in updates to this SEO Marketing group again!

So, lets get caught up on some important information ... I'm just going to go back a few months as I was not supposed to be working during the time, BUT ... 


February 2012

Twitter has just launched another new design (they've been playing around with this for weeks). I do not like the layout as much as their second change, but I am getting used to it. January 2012

Microsoft Bing and Yahoo merged their webmaster tools at the beginning of January. Both had their own Webmaster Tools that was set up similar to Google's, but they now use just the Bing Webmaster Central instead of the two separate entities. Their Yahoo’s Site Explorer is no longer active. This change was only possible after the two search engines merged a.k.a. "completion of algorithmic transition". This is exciting news because there is one less resource to use and it is a rather comprehensive service. Make sure to use and any tools they offer as diligently as you would your Google programs.


December 2011

Google announced that they were no longer making the Google Friend Connect available for non-Blogger.com blogs. This provided me with the opportunity to share with moms why they needed to use Google+ for their mom blog exposure and mom-centric businesses. Facebook had a lot of problems in December when one hacker MADE the infamous Mark Zuckerburg do something about the glitches by hacking Zuckerburg's personal pictures to show the Facebook Privacy vulnerabilities. It definitely made him do something about it once and for all. The hysterical point of mentioning this Facebook issue is that Zuckerburg had just settled his lawsuit with the Federal Trade Commission promising that he would do better to protect Facebook user's privacy ... Want to check out Zuckerburg's pictures? The hacker's original post was removed from the Internet, but this video shares them, too.


November 2011

Google launched their Brand Pages (similar to Facebook pages). The Internet savvy and shrewd business owners JUMPED ON THEM as soon as Mashable posted the announcement. I posed the chronological backwards (i.e. Why Mom Bloggers Need To Use Google+ link above under December 2012), so that you understand WHY you need to set up your Google + completely (update any old Google profile info) and Google + Brand Page - This is why we see all of the little +1 Buttons on SocialMoms and all over the Internet. The more you get to your actual Brand Page and on each page of your site, the better off your Search Engine Rankings if you are not paying for sponsored listings (and who on earth would want to do that ... LOL ... Right???).

The Twitter whale was hanging out quite a bit this month (you know ... the over capacity message). It was quite frustrating, but they seemed to have resolved it this month!


June 2011

Google launched the LONG awaited Google + / Google Plus project *** as of 2/15/2102 it is still in beta with more members than Facebook and estimated growth of about 400 million users by the end of 2012). This is their original launch / explanation video, but if you SCROLL up to December 2012 on this list and read Why Moms Need To Use Google + you will understand that this is more than just some stinkin' social network with camera hang out capabilities ... Google + projects turns Google into the social search engine that they had been promising it to be since 2008!!!



March 2011

In March, Google launched this video to explain the Google Plus button ... Have you watched it? I am sitting here smiling as I realize they put this video and explanation out months before they aunched the Google + Social Site. This is really the back bone for all ... ESPECIALLY to SEO MARKETING MOMS like us that need to know how to compete with larger companies online. Google + is in it's infancy, though still manages to superseded everything but the basic Meta Tag set up when it comes to Google SEO. Again ... Have you watched this video?
