Increasing SEO traffic and rank - can you help?

Right now I have 4 websites, three that have been around for about 4 years. 2 websites get about 600 hits per month. http://burburandfriendsblog.com and http://burandfriends.com . I want to increase traffic and feel like I have tried everything I know. I bought the book SEO for dummies to start. I cant afford to hire someone at this point for help.

If you have thoughts of where to start or resources let me know PLEASE

Sorry that I missed this post - I had just 4 discussions showing on the homepage of the group and totally missed this ... It is almost 2 years later, how are your sites doing now?
