Children have special views of vacation, little memories tickling the corners of their minds. They need a place to let these thoughts develop, a place for memories and dreams. Keeping a vacation journal is an unquestionably effective method for children to expressing thoughts, be creative, venting feelings, and recording memories. Nurturing your child's thoughts by urging them to keep a journal during vacation is a wonderful way to help them expand and cultivate their ideas.

The actual book that your child writes in is very important. If they like the book they are writing in, they are more apt to write in it. So, let the child pick out a blank book that they like; something that makes them feel happy, just looking at it. Or give them construction paper, markers, notebook paper and time to create one of their own. (See slide-show for some ideas.) A little pack of colored pencils would be wonderful!
