Yesterday a friend called to ask what store has the best deals for school supplies. What? Aren't you reading my blog? You can't just go to one store.
I know that I have told everyone over and over again on my blog about the back-to-school deals, but I guess I haven't been clear enough. When I see great deals, ex. 5¢ 1-subject notebooks, I buy as many allowed. I have a closet full of notebooks, folders, pencils, pens, glue sticks, rulers etc.
My kids are able to "shop" from my closet and if there's anything they need after that we look for the great deal and shop.
This year I got my son a new $50 backpack FREE via Staples (rebate). I bought 1¢ protractors, 5¢ compasses, FREE Bic pens (10 packs of 20). I'm amazed when a store runs a deal for $1 markers and people run. You can get a set of markers for 25¢ or less.
I make lists from the Sunday papers and carry the lists in my car. If I'm driving past a Kmart, I run in for the 5¢ notebooks ONLY, take them home and add them to my back-to-school closet.
The big ticket item this summer was a TI-84 calculator for my soon to be 7th grader. I purchased it thru Mr. Rebates via Staples and saved $50.
What do you do to save money on back-to-school supplies? Please share your tips.
