Your idea sounds wonderful. What location? Would love to do the same here, but town is too small, a good amount of diversity, but just too small, AND I wouldn't get any knitting or writing done. Do you have options for a city nearby? Towns with colleges/ universities are great choices, you'll get learners and experienced, makes for a good mix. Or sit down at your local coffee shop with your knitting friends, grow the group, then expand to your own place. Just throwing out ideas here. Always pro-knitting and coffee too. Wishing you well and no "frogs" in your knitting.

Our local coffee shop closed and our biggest problem is not having a place to sit and knit.  I know it would would but dont have the $150k to start it up and am truly not sure if I could make 6K a month.  It seems like such a huge figure...Its not totally dead...just maybe on the back burner for a while.  Banks wont loan to small business without something to back it..ironic..its the bank that screwed up the economy in the first place...not the small business woman.  Oh well.  Thanks for the post.  Now I guess I can finish my knitted Darlek!

you should look for gov't grants, both state and federal, for women-owned businesses. New employees (jobs) hired is the key these days. Here are some by state. Check out the sba.gov programs for women too.
