I am totally a cat lover who now also owns a dog....I love dogs also....but cats rule.

Joanna, I talk to my cats all the time and they talk right back. I have one cat that just loves treats and hops in the cupboard and meows so that you give her treats.

Hi catlovers! Finally Ive found a place when I dont need to feel shame when I want to talk about my cats,
how great creatures they are, how many funny and nice time we spending together in life, good time and
bad times as well.I have a 13years old red persian (I will put pic later),he was living with me all in his life.In this january Ive moved to very far and couldnt take with me
for several reasons.Here I have a young black-white simple "farmer"cat, we saved from the euthanasy.He is strong and wild and an energizer battery....I would share stories with anybody here...., hopefully finding
some friends...

Milinda do you think the vet could give Obie something to calm him so that there wouldn't be as much stress on him? It was just a thought.

Milinda we were in your shoes earlier this year with our beloved Billie, a Shih Tzu. He was 16 years old, almost blind with cataracts, lost alot of weight and was on selegeline for his doggy alzheimers and pain meds for his arthritis that seemed to be getting worse and daily eye drops for his eyes as they would dry out. We knew that soon he would not be with us but my hope had been that he would fall asleep one day and just not wake up and go peacefully so we wouldn't be forced into making a decision. Then one morning I picked him up and looked at his face and saw his one eye was bulging and all white. We made an appointment with the vet who had been treating his eyes. My husband and I went together and the vet told us that Billie would have to have the eye removed as it had ruptured and we both knew that Billie was not strong enough to go through the surgery and we didn't want him to suffer anymore. Even though we knew it was for the best it broke our hearts to put him to sleep. We wanted him to live forever.

I know this will be the hardest decision in your life to make and one that no one wants to make. I wish there was a magic wand to make everything all better. You know what is best for Obie and whatever you decide, whichever way you go, know that you are making the best choice for what is best for Obie. Only you can make the decision. You could talk to your vet and see what they think about Obie making it through the trip and how it would affect him and see what they say.

Our Billie would have good and bad days. On the bad days we would wonder how long we could let this go on but then the next day he would be much better and very happy. It's hard to watch our animals go down hill.

We have other animals (4 cats, 2 dogs, 2 birds) and they are all getting older and I am treasuring every day I get to spend with them.

I wish you the best and will keep you in my prayers during this very hard time.

Check out this place that takes in cats and helps to get them adopted. You will be amazed at the woman who runs it. She is really doing a great thing for the animals.

Hi everyone. I am the mom of 4 kids, 3 hermit crabs and 2 wonderful cats! Jenna is a black and white, who will be 4 in May. We adopted her from a shelter when she was about 4 months old. We also have Noelle, who I rescued last Christmas (hence the name) from a shelter, who was going to put her to sleep because she has a bad limp as a result of a severe attackon her outdoors. She is about 2 years old. We have found out the hard way, that it seems Jenna is territorial to the extreme and is a one cat per household type. But, we keep her separated from Noelle (one upstairs, one down) and that seems to work out. I wouldn't get rid of either, I adore them both. My 11 year old is allergic to cats, and he willingly gets allergy shots every 2 weeks to keep the cats (Jenna is his). Have a great day - tracy
