What different mommy blog networks and social media forums do you participate in?

If you're like me, any time you stumble upon a new blog network such as SocialMoms.com, you're asking 'Where do I sign?' But just as you can spread yourself too thin in other aspects of work/life balance, you can do the same for your online personas on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, SocialMoms, BlogHer or any number of other sites.

So, let me ask you members of the Social Moms network, what other blog networks do you belong to and how often do you participate? If SocialMoms.com is the one you most frequent, why?

I'd love to know for a series of articles I'm writing on my site, FatHeadDog.com. I personally feel too stretched, and so I'm taking a critical look at all the various sites I belong to and deciding which 2 or 3 blog networks into which I should invest my time.

I'm here, and on FB and Twitter.  I am also on the Family Centered Living Network (which I own).  I used to be on several other forums and email lists, but it has become overwhelming, so I decided to keep it to a select few.  SM allows me to do some excellent networking.

Facebook is fine, but can overtake everything.  I will be paring that down drastically in order to concentrate on my own outreach through Family Centered Living.  We'll keep a presence there, but my personal page, which is largely populated with readers of my blog and folks from all the myriad other places I've been, has become a behemoth.

I have stopped writing for other sites - BlogHer never really happened for me; and the others quickly became a burden, rather than a joy.  I am keeping to writing for our family website, and our own publications.

That keeps our family functioning and will hopefully also restore my sanity.

Blessings,

Nissa

Thanks Nissa! I'm curious about BlogHer specifically. I've written like two articles for them and was featured as a Featured Mom, but then I got too involved in other things and didn't keep it up. What was your experience on BlogHer?

I'm hooked on The Blog Frog

I no longer use Facebook. I stick to my personal website, Wordpress, Tumblr, Twitter, SocialMoms. I like that I can link my Wordpress blog to update on twitter and tumblr, saves time and distraction. And I like Social Moms for the content and connecting to other moms. I'm still learning my way around the site but I'm getting used to it a little more and plan to grow personally and professionally through regular use.

Tumblr is one I never got.  Any pointers?

It's similar to other blog sites in that you can post, share and follow. You can also comment, like and reboot others' posts.

I guess the only pointers I have is tagging your content appropriately so others can find easily. Your dashboard can be set up to display specific content, so adjusting your settings for that helps also.
Feel free to visit my Tumblr page: reflexionsofgrace.tumblr.com I tried to keep a simple layout, but maybe it will give a better idea of what I tried explaining above.

I never could even figure out how to upload a photo on there.  I don't know why.  I'm on tons of other sites without any problem.  I just don't get Tumblr.  I checkout your page and tried to add you.  I don't know if I was successful or not.  lol

I use to many social networks! Tumblr, Pinterest, Google +, Facebook and Twitter the most.

I just started a new group for all the mom bloggers to share Google + love. The group allows users to post a few links they would like +'s on. Each member who requests +1's should also give plus to other users.

The group is at http://www.socialmoms.net/group/google-plus-exchange
