I teach them by example. As much as I love treats I do not but them, but once a week. Every other evening we take a walk or a bike ride. We go bowling or to the park, I try to make exercising fun.
By modeling good behavior! Young kids are such sponges, so you have to teach good habits early on!
I teach them healthy eating habits by example and not offering them unhealthy foods. I teach them exercise habits by playing with them and having "dance parties" where we dance around to music together. Thank you for the chance at this contest!
I teach good eating habits by example and by cooking delicious, healthy meals that he likes. Exercise, same basic thing.... example:   Sports, outdoor activities, always moving..
Lead by example. I think kids tend to learn the most from watching what we do ourselves. I stress heavily to them that it is more important to exercise than to diet, I'm not saying you can eat all junk I'm just saying that it's not  healthy to lose weight or stay thin by starving yourself or eating fad foods. We eat together as a family and I try to serve healthy balanced meals with large portions of vegetables a serving of meat and a starch. We also exercise together and I try to keep it fun so it doesn't seem like a chore.
My 3 year old looks up to his daddy, so I try to encourage Daddy to eat well and exercise so my son will!  We like to cook healthy meals at home, even if it's sneaky healthy cooking.  ;)  We also like to play outside, play sports in the backyard, and go for family walks.
Best way to teach them is to model good habits yourself and cook well-balanced meals for your family. If you're eating junk food and sitting on the couch all day watching TV, your children will want to do the same. If you're playing outside with them and eating home-cooked meals, your children will model those healthier habits :-)
We teach by example and always discussing healthy foods, recipes and we cook together...often!  Also..if it's not in the kitchen, it's not an option and we prefer play over TV!
I teach by example. My kids see me exercise each and every morning so they know it is just part of the schedule. I like to do things that include my kids such as bike rides, walks, tennis, swimming, etc. I also include them in the cooking process so they see what healthy things go into each meal.
I teach by example. We aren't perfect but by eating healthy meals and snacks and taking care of myself by doing Jazzercise classes 3 times a week, the kids see mom taking care of herself and are more likely to!
I try to teach my kids good habits by example.  I eat fairly well.  I exercise several days a week.  I also try to include them in these activities.  We walk and bike together.  We play Wii together.  They help me pick out new fruits and veggies and prepare meals.
I try to make sure we fit in exercise  whenever we can- walking to the store, hiking, biking, doing fun stuff that doesnt seem like exercise. We also dont consider any food off limits but stress moderation. We talk about how what we eat affects so many aspects of our health. And I stress lots of water for health & hydration. With kids they tend to be picky so you have to work with what you got. My daughter hates cooked veggies but loves them raw so hey it works- less prep and more nutrients. She wont eat a pea to save her soul and I dont push it, she eats other green veggies so thats ok.
