I have a content-based website that seeks to inspire women to
try something new, change an old habit and notice beauty through speckles of dirt. But I can't fing a Wordpress theme that can do all of the things I want, and I don't know HTML or css coding.

I've looked into designers that start at $4000 for a website!!

How are you improving the look and versatility of your blog site? Mine is here: http://www.speckleofdirt.com

Hi Tammy,
My "day job" is in marketing and graphic design--I'm starting my own online store but still have a number of clients I work with. Most important...What do you want it to do for you? List those things and it will be easier to give you some advice :-) I'd be happy to pass on tips but not sure where to start for you!
Thanks for commenting! Well, the trouble I'm having has to do with the Pages. Most themes only give you static links to like an About page, but I want to be able to post to the different pages. For instance I have specific categories that I want to post to: Food, Dining and Gardening. I want people to click on the Food page and navigate that entire page for post, recipes, local ads, news, etc. I also started a Speckles of Faith blog, and would like people to be able to click on Faith and be directed to that blog.

I also want it to look really great, but also look good on smartphones...

Even though it is a content based blog, I think it can be interactive, beautiful and inspirational all at once!

which "theme" are you using at your site. The ones I looked at on their website seem to have all these functionality built into them?? Place to insert pretty banners, widgets for links and what not

http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/

I'm not sure exactly how wordpress sets up files but there should be a way to place an image into the header title area. There is some info in the forums (search "insert graphic banner)

Not sure is your site host is but they may be able to assist as well. I'd be happy to take a look for you as well (with no charge..if I can help you, great)

I sent you a private message..would be happy to take a look to see if I could trouble shoot this for you. LMK
I think I'm using the 'minimal' theme and i have a graphic banner, but the menu bar with pages is the tricky thing. I want more navigating capability like www.pioneerwoman.com.

I appreciate all of your comments and willingness to look into it!

Hey Tammy,
Take a look at my website http://www.afterbedtimeblog.com/. The menu on the top has the static pages. On the right, I have a menu listing "what I blog about". When creating this theme, I had the option of styling those links as buttons like pioneer woman's, i just chose not to. those links aren't actually "pages". they're category listings and when you click on one, it takes you to a "page" listing all the posts in that category.
I haven't seen a theme where you can have more than one blog page so i guess this is the work around.
I'd suggest you create your from page to display the one most recent post and then categorize the other posts so they'll end up on their own "page". You can also add a slideshow on the home page that displays posts from the other "pages".
