Step Children.. How to do cope with the other woman/man in their life?

I am a step mother to a wonderful little guy. But his biological mother kinda makes me mad. Not for the fact that she is the real mother, but for the way she treated him from birth til now. Has anyone had the same feelings? If so how did you cope with her or him and how did you keep your mouth shut or at least resisted from ripping her or him a new one?

Jessica, I so feel your pain. I am a Step Mom of a 5yr old little girl. My Husband has had custody of her since she was 3. So we have had her for 2 years now, The Bio Mom has not made one visit in 2 years, and now that we are going to court for Child Support, actually Thursday. She has tried to take an active role in her life, ugh, I have a very hard time keeping my mouth shut..It is very hard to do so. But hats off to you for stepping up.

Thank you. Congrats to you and him for getting her. We have been in his life since June of 2011 and on Feb of 2012 we have him with us. It feels wonderful to know he is out of the hell he was is and that he is with us now. The only thing I hate is that she still comes around and has visitation. Jacob is so happy when he comes home with us but she tells us that he throws tantrums when she gets him ready to come with us. But yet he runs to us and is singing in the car. I think it is so cute too.
