Sometimes Accidents happen

So one of my really good friends and wonderful mother of two, daughter 3 and son 18 months. Is making the kids oatmeal with an electric kettel, and yes you guessed it, Little Kale 18 months grabs the cord and pulls it off the counter. Burned himself down his arm a back. There at sick kids right now and i want to give her some encouraging words. What should i said and what do you say? I cant help feeling so sorry for her and kale. When we as moms are there protectors and something so serious and hurtful happens to them we feel we have failed. Please anyone what do i do as her friend?

tell her how you really feel think about it if it was yourson what would she tell you sometimes things happen in life to our kids and we cant always be there to protect them

Just re asure her that she is a good mother and you and all of her friends know that. Like you said accidents happen and the little ones are so fast. The only way to begin protecting them from accidents like that is to think of everything that could happen with the little one before the accident. Like did she have the cord hanging down, could she have prevented that. It doesn't make her a bad mother but sometimes you have to think before the child thinks of his or her actions. Think before the child!

Your absolutlly right. And it was a busy morning we were all going to the air show, she had lunches to pack two kids to get ready and herself and yes the cord was hanging over the counter. And when she didnt show up we wonder what happen to them. Im soo glad it wasnt the little guys face in a way they are all lucky it could have been much worse or prevented like you said all together.
