My 9yr loves facebook
My daughter loves going on my wife's and my facebook. Apparently there are tons of games on there that she plays with, even a farming game where she earns points to buy new crops or something. She's been begging us to make her an account. Well you can't actually make an account for anyone under 18 I believe, but she keeps begging. Does facebook entice anyone else s kids?

Yes! My 5 year old loves YoVille on my facebook! She can dress up her character (which used to be mine!), buy her clothes, visit (my) friends and decorate her house. I play a lot of the games and she asks to play them too A LOT (including the farming games!). I think the age for facebook may be 13 but younger than that, I might consider making a "family" account. Private page, no pictures, shared password.. just for games.

My 12 year old daughter sooo wants a Facebook page. And she has many friends whose parents lied about their age and signed them up. I'm being a 'mean' mom and waiting until she's actually 13 to let her have an account, though. And even then, I'll have the password and will probably be checking her page more than here. There's been a lot of cyberbullying among kids here lately.

I have a 9 year old daughter and thank goodness she hasn't expressed interest in a FB account becasue I would say no. She can't have one until she is older. there are other sites that have free games that kids can play.

My daughter is 10 & I won't allow her to go on Facebook. I had though the "recommended" min age was 13.
I really prefer a contained site like what Webkinz does, and the fre play on Club Penquin.
Not to be an alarmist - but thread carefully.

I have 2 friends who have made pages for their children so they can play the games. As I have been told Farmville helps them with school work in some ways i.e. time management etc. They both have decided to keep the login and passwords private so that they know when their child is logged in.
Mine keeps begging, but I don't think we are ready for that just yet.

My kids have mentioned it (10 & 12) but have not pressed the issue too much yet. I recently heard about a new social network geared towards tweens. This may be a great thing as parents are supposed to have more control over what their kids are doing on it. I think it is hard to keep new technology away from our kids, this is their life now. We need to teach them to respect new technology and maybe not throwing them right into 'adult' Facebook is a key in doing this.

I have desktops that have safe games for kids of all ages to play and not get into something they shouldn't. They were created by a man who's grandson who has Autism but he has a few for different age kids to play. If anyone wants info let me know, they are free and I get no kickback. I know the younger kids one is called the Zac Browser. I can look for full info if anyone is interested, I have the gentlemen on my FB friend list.

My soon 12 yr old asked me if she could start a facebook page so she could play the games. I made the page, turned everything on private, know the password, I upload the pictures I allow her to have and I am the one that can accept her friend requests. She is limited to the amount of time she allowed to spend on there. Usually in one week she is on there a total of 2 or 3 hours in 7 days. I do allow her to use the chat feature as it only has the people we have allowed on her friends list.
I have had friends of mine try to friend her due to being in their "suggestions" and I have politely told them that it is her site for her to play the games and I only allow her to have certain individuals on there. Everyone seems to accept my explanation to them. It is really nice to use for family members that live far away.
I also told her that any messages that are received and sent will be viewed by me, so that I know what is going on. Sure it might be a little overbearing, but she needs to respect what I ask of her and so far she is being very responsible about it. She knows that if something goes wrong the pages goes away.
When she turns 13, I will continue doing this too and slowly give her more control over it unless I see things questionable!
