Hi Moms;

I work for Imagination-Cafe, an online magazine for kids and I'm wondering if and at what age your kids are starting to take an interest in the world wide web?

Any info would be great as we are trying to get Imagination-cafe one of the top sites for kids to visit.

Thanks :)

My daughter started computer lab in 5 y/old kindergarten - no internet, a few school approved games only.
At that point, we gave her access to a few sites, TVO Kids (Ontario); Barbie, Disney.
By 7 y/s, we added Webkinz & Club Penguin (freebie only).

At 10, she now has her own email account, and access to some sites, and can do her own Google searches. My hubby set up parental controls to block sites, plus gives her time restrictions.

I'll be sure to checkout your site.

cheers - Lesley

Thank you. And please, if you are willing, spread the word around about the Cafe :)

Thanks

My 7 year old has been using a computer since he was a couple years old.

He started out on sites like "Boowa and Kwala" (which he kept insisting on putting over onto the French speaking side) and now goes places where he can download free trials for games like on PopCap. He and my younger son also like sites like Nick, Jr and CArtoon Network and Mr Men.

They're both limited in their time to 30 minutes a day.
Thanks for the response. We have kid-friendly games aswell. It's under the Klub Krumbs umbrella, but it's FREE to join and all it requires is a username and password.

Check it out at http://imagination-cafe.com

Thanks and any feedback would be much appreciated as we're always trying to improve the Cafe :)

My 11 year old has been online since he was 8 and got his first webkinz. My 6 year old has been online since she got her first webkinz at 4 1/2. And my 3 year old has a webkinz, but she doesn't really do much yet. I play with her/for her. My oldest 2 actually have their own netbooks we got them for Christmas because my computer is my work computer and I don't want anyone touching it. :) They are monitored when they are using their netbooks though. My 6 year old sits right beside me and my 11 year old usually is at his desk where I check on him a lot. I also go through his emails, though the only ones who have his email address are family members. He knows his email account will be deleted if I find he has given it to anyone I deem inappropriate, meaning don't give it out, let me take care of that part. :)

My 11 year old also has "his" own blog. It's actually a collaboration project between him and I. He takes pictures and videos with his own camera and video camera and then I upload them, type up the blog entry as he dictates it for me, then we shoot it off to family and friends to show off his pictures/videos.
My kids have been active online from about 4, on strictly child-friendly sites only.
Thanks for the response Heather.

Let me know if you check out Imagination-Cafe and what your kids think of it :)

Thanks

Thanks for the response and again if you check out our magazine, please let me know what your kids liked or didn't like. It's all really helpful :)

Since I have 19 year old and 12. They both use the computer. However we have it restricted. My oldest asked for so he would not be tempted.
Thanks! I know the computer is so easy to become "addicted" to. Not sure what I would do without mine :)
