DO YOU KEEP ANY OF YOUR KIDS' OUTGROWN ITEMS OF CLOTHING AS SOUVENIRS?

I have kept quite a lot of items, some are on bookcases like ornaments, some are packed safely away. I tend to keep those that are particularly beautiful childrens' clothes or shoes, those that hold a certain significance, memory etc. Would love to know what you do .

best

I ve been reading all your replies in this discussion and it's very interesting. I agree it's difficult to keep many things and clutter is an issue but I keep, like a lot of other mums here, the most special things that I can't bear to part with. I wish I could make a quilt as well like some mums have said. This is an American thing.  I love handmade things around the house made by members of the family.
As I said in a previous post I make paintings of my son's shoes and I will create some more paintings of other items. Has anybody viewed them on www. expressurselfart.blogspot.com?

best wishes and have a good weekend with the family

Hi Diane

I am sure the children when they are grown up will appreciate that we kept these special things form their childhood.

I try and keep only the most special items...the baptism outfit, our favorite book, a favorite toy...I have saved less STUFF as they have gotten older but I have a 'special box' for each child for art, writing assignments, etc that are cute and I just can't throw away!
I have kept some of his clothes and lots and lots of craft items he has made.  I have also kept all of his halloween outfits.  He is only 4 and I have lots of stuff already.  Who knows what I'm going to go when he gets into school.
I did not do this but I wish i would have kept memorable clothing and made them into a quilt for each child to take with them when they grew up.
I kept mostly clothes and thankful that I did.  My oldest son is 11 and my youngest son actually came home from the hospital in the same outfit (this was at the request of the oldest).  There is a 11 yr age difference between the oldest and youngest.  My older two love going through all the old stuff and passing some of it down to the younger teo.  My mom kept stuff to pass onto my sister and me when we had kids and receiving those items meant a lot to me.

My mom didn't keep any clothes of mine but I wish she had done. I remember still now some beautiful dresses from when I was a little girl, which made me feel very special and  I would love to still have them to be able to see and touch them.  Maybe that's why I keep some special things of my sons now.
I do however have two of my chilhood dolls, my favourite two which I gave to my son to play with along with all his new toys and he was very impressed  to hear they were mine from when I was a child. But it was mainly the feeling I got when I  saw my own dolls in my son's nursery. Really happy I was able to pass it on to my own offspring.
