A moral dilemma: Hurting one group of people to save another

My heart is heavy. The place where I grew up -- Mississippi County, Mo. -- has been intentionally flooded by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. They blew a two-mile hole in a levee, and people's homes and farms are now covered by water.

I blogged about it here.

I just wanted to share and ask everyone to send good thoughts their way...

I hear you and my prayers go out to all the families who are in dyer need of help. Would you like to start a program to help? One thought I had was looking into how we can give back, helping with kitchen supplies, household appliances. Stuff like that. What are your thoughts?

That sounds like a good idea. I have no idea when they will be able to get back into their homes. Some people were probably able to take some things; they started evacuating before the weekend. But I don't know if they were able to take everything. I will ask around and find out. Good idea!
