Event Description
From 10/1 in NYC to 10/16 in Washington, DC, people from across the country will be marching to the White House demanding labeling of all Genetically Engineered Foods in the Right2Know March.
Genetically Engineered (GE) Foods are made from crops that have had their DNA modified in a laboratory with genes from other plants, animals, viruses or bacteria. Right now, they are not required to be labeled and are in 80% of our food, whether you know it or not. Since there haven’t been long term studies, we don’t know what effect they might have on our health and that of our children. Right now, the best way to avoid GE Foods is to eat certified organic food or products bearing the Non GMO Project Verified Seal.
In honor of the Right2Know March, Nature's Path and SocialMoms have teamed up to host an informative Twitter Party on Wednesday, 9/28/11. We hope you can join us as we talk about the Right2Know March and natural, organic and non-GMO food choices! You’ll be entered for a chance to win great prizes just by participating during the party. We will be joined by our co-host, Robyn O'Brien (@unhealthytruth), of www.robynobrien.com who will talk about organic foods, the truth behind the foods we currently eat and more. Robyn O’Brien is a former food industry analyst, author, Fulbright grant recipient and mother of four.
